#11 - Sin and False Beliefs

#11. Sin / False beliefs - Some people are under the false assumption that everyone is going to heaven. There are others who believe falsely that evangelism and outreach are not necessary. And there are others who went through the motions of being saved to get their "golden ticket" or "fire insurance" but are still living sinful lives.

In the survey, Steve Schaper said, “There is the belief that many ‘not-really evangelicals’ have that everyone is going to be saved, that in the New Testament, God no longer judges sin, that grace means that we get to sin freely, etc”[sic].

These false beliefs and doctrines are the reason they don’t share their faith. They reason that since salvation is not necessary than why share your faith? Everyone is going to heaven anyway.

If sin is not a problem than salvation is not important and we do not need saving. If salvation is not important and we do not need saving than their is no need for a savior. If there is not need for a savior than Jesus came and died on the cross for nothing. If Jesus died in vain than what is the point of even going to church in the first place? Come on people, WAKE UP! Your reasoning is not sound.

The sad part is that there are many who will believe these false teachers and will die in their sins. “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron” (1 Timothy 4:1,2) “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people” (2 Timothy 3:1-9).

We must be SALT and Light to the world. We must point the way to salvation in Jesus Christ.

Matthew 5:13 (NIV) - “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

PRAYER THOUGHT - Dear Lord, Thank your for the precious gift of salvation. Help me to be SALT and LIGHT in this world and not propagate lies that negate the work of Jesus Christ. In Jesus' name, AMEN.
