28 Helpful Hints For Bible Reading

6. Listen to the Bible on CD, MP3, or tape -Exodus 24:7

6. Listen to the Bible on CD, MP3, or tape.

Exodus 24:7 Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people. They responded, “We will do everything the Lord has said; we will obey.”

Most of the time I read my scripture verse in a quiet room. But I have to admit that sometimes my mind gets distracted and I lose track of what I am reading. I have found that if someone else reads it and I follow along I can stay more on track.

Sometimes I get my wife to read with me but most of the time we find it hard to sit down together because of all the things we have to get done. So what do you do? You could invite the mailman in to read with you or grab somebody walking down the street but I don't recommend that very much!

The Audio Bible is readily available on CD, MP3, or cassette tape and usually is read by someone with a strong voice. Sometimes you can find a dramatize reading of the Bible that has multiple voice reading it. The Audio Bible is also available on most of the Bible websites like www.biblegateway.com (There is a little speaker icon above the reading that will bring up an audio reader).

The most effective use of the Audio Bible is following along in the version while the person reads. But sometimes circumstances don't allow for you to do so. There are days when I am on the road a lot especially when I am visiting someone in the hospital in Winston-Salem or heading down to Black Mountain to see my Mother-In-law, Myrtle. Before I leave the driveway, I pull my daily reading up on my phone and play it over the speakers of the car for all to hear. I can't follow along because I am trying to keep my eyes on the road.

I actually did my reading one time while I was waiting at the doctors office. I pulled up the Audio Bible on my Bible App (YouVersion) and put my headphones in and read along. When I was done a woman sitting near me asked what I was doing. She was totally unaware that she could pull up her Bible on her phone or that she could use the Audio Bible on it.

May God bless you today as you hear his word and answer "I will do what the Lord said; I will obey."

PRAYER THOUGHT: Dear God, Your words are sweet to my ears. Wisdom flows from every word. I thank you for giving us the Bible. I thank you for the tools you have given us to use. May the reading of your Word prepare me for service in your kingdom. In the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, I pray, AMEN!
