31 Ways To Let Your Light Shine!

15. Being counter-culture - Ro 13:12,14; 12:2a

Romans 13:12-14 - The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather clothe yourself with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.

Romans 12:2- Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to prove what God's will is - His good, pleasing, and perfect will.

A sure fire way to let your light shine in this world is to be different. It gets attention. I saw a picture on facebook for a guy painted gold from head to foot with a sign that said, "Different is good."

One of the biggest arguments against Christianity is the hypocrisy of those who profess to believe. "Dey ain't no different den anyone else in dis world," a woman told me, "In fact, dey worse, cause dey know'd better."

I would answer that we are all sinners saved by grace. And that is true. I don't question the salvation of those who profess Christ with their lips but don't live by his word and way. That is HIS job. Grace is for salvation but we are to walk in the light as He is in the light. We are to live in righteousness, faith, and obedience... and his grace fills in the gaps.

Time to be different, brothers and sisters! It's time to clothe ourselves in Christ and go out into the world and get your hands dirty. Pick up every stone and shine the light of Jesus under it. Open the door at midnight and let the light shine in the darkness. It's good to be different.

May God bless you this day as you put on Christ and shine in the darkness.

PRAYER THOUGHT: Oh Lord, My God; You have created me to be a unique individual. I thank you for making be different. Help me to stand out in the world not because I have blue hair, dress funny, or have a tattoo but because I stand for you in a world that often ridicules, rejects, and hates those who shine the light of Jesus. Help me to stand firm. Clothe me in Christ. It is in Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
